In Déjà You, five authors share stories of second chances, as varied in telling as the writers themselves. Kelly Cain’s We’ll Always Have Oahu takes us on a whirlwind New Adult romance set in the 80s between a young woman on a high school graduation trip and a handsome Navy sailor. Bianca M. Schwarz transports us to 1760 in The Pearl with the story of Marcus Landover, who attends a card party and ends up with more than he bargained for in the beautiful Sophia Chelmsford. Amanda Linsmeier’s Joy and Sorrow reunites lovers separated by death in a Women’s Fiction tinged with the unusual. The Eyes of the Heart by Jamie McLachlan gives us Rosalina, who is forced to confront her attraction and the truth about her blindness when a new gardener is hired at the Greystone house. Finally, C.H. Armstrong brings us Mr. Midnight, where tragedy reunites two star-crossed lovers, but misunderstandings soon rip them apart. Now, six years later, the stars are realigning with the help of the smooth voice of a late night radio DJ. Some of the stories are sweet, some sad, some steamy, but all carry the same theme. Déjà You is a collection of stories for those who believe in love, but most of all, second chances.
Every page is elegantly addictive.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book contains five stories written by Kelly Cain, Bianca Schwarz, Amanda Linsmer, Jamie McLachlan and C.H Armstrong.
Five stories by five different authors, with a common theme, and who doesn't like second chances?
This is the first Anthology set I've read, but you don't have to read them in order to enjoy them. They can each be a stand-alone. the stories are fun, the characters are the sort of people you wish you had for friends, and the romances are sweet.
Deja You is a colletion of five stories with themes of second chances, they all are based on last love which is found again.
Kelly Cain's story is set in the 1980's, with a summer romance between a recent high school graduate and a Navy sailor. Set in the 1980s this story about a strong young woman who wants to finally decide for herself what she wants to do with her life
Once again, Bianca has surpasse all of my expecation with The Pearl, story takes us to 1760, revolves around a man who attends a card party and leaves with more than he bargained for. I absolutely love Bianca historicals. The Pearl was so authentic. I've read a lot of historical romances. The lenguage, manners, everythinh transported me completely.
Joy and Sorrow by Amanda Linsmeier. Iris lost the love of her life, Grady. She tells us about the beautiful and the hard times she’s had with Grady and about that gut wrenching pain she still feels all those years later.
The Eyes of the Heart by Jamie McLachlan. Set in 1910, it’s the story about 20-year-old Rosalina deals with a blind woman and a new gardener. The author has a great writing style and I fell in love with the characters immediately
And finally, C.H. Armstrong’s Mr. Midnight. It’s the story about Beth who’s been in love with her best friend’s brother her entire life.
I have loved everything Kelly, Amanda, Jamie and C.H has written.
Each story was so different it felt like I was reading many different books I thorouhly enjoyed each one.
I could go on and on about the beautiful love that we get to live through this 5 stories, but really everyone needs to read about it for themselves. I would definitely recommend Deja You to anyone. Especially you romance novel readers.
I need paperback!
All the beautiful teasers were made by River Designs. She made them especially for this review.
KELLY CAIN
Kelly is a new adult and contemporary romance novelist. After many years of being entrenched in business and data analysis, she began writing last year and discovered it to be her passion. She loves reading most genres, but historical fiction and new adult are her favorites. She has two adult daughters and lives in a suburb of Houston, Texas.
BIANCA M. SCHWARZ
Bianca was born in Germany, spent her formative years in London and just got her US passport, but she considers herself a world citizen. She lives in Los Angeles because that’s where they make movies and she used to work on them. And she writes novels because that’s kind of like making a movie in people’s heads and because she just loves books. Bianca has one son, because that’s all she can handle and she tolerates her husband because, well, she loves him and there is no help for that. Oh yeah, and there is a cat.
AMANDA LINSMEIER
Amanda Linsmeier is the author of Ditch Flowers (Penner Publishing, 2015) and Beach Glass & Other Broken Things. Her writing has been featured in Feminine Collective, Portage Magazine, Literary Mama, and Brain, Child Magazine. Besides writing Women’s Fiction and poetry, she loves fables, fairytales, and fantasy, and sometimes she pretends her Hogwarts letter is still coming. When she’s not writing, she works part-time at her local library and brings home more books than she has time to read. Amanda lives in the countryside, surrounded by trees, with her family, two dogs, and two half-wild cats. For her, writing is the best kind of magic, and her work is heavily influenced by mysterious women, nature, and beautiful images, and fueled with lots of iced coffee and background music. She’s the kind of monster who dog-ears book pages, and she has read her favorite book, Beauty by Robin McKinley, probably a hundred times. Other authors who’ve influenced her include J.K. Rowling, Carolyn Turgeon, and Maya Angelou. She loves pizza, tattoos, shopping, and pretty much anything French.
JAMIE MCLACHLAN
Canadian author of the Memory Collector Series: Mind of the Phoenix (an Amazon Bestseller in Dark Fantasy), Pawn of the Phoenix, and Rise of the Phoenix. In addition to novels, McLachlan writes poetry and short stories such as “The Eyes of the Heart”, which can be found in the collection, Déjà You: Stories of Second Chances. When not writing, she enjoys reading, dabbling in various crafts, spending time with her husband and two sons, and letting her imagination roam with the help of great music
C.H. ARMSTRONG
I am an Oklahoma-native transplanted in Minnesota for 23 years, and am the author of "The Edge of Nowhere." A 1992 graduation of the University of Oklahoma, I am a rabid Oklahoma Sooner Football Fan. On most Saturdays from September through January, you can find me propped in front of the TV watching Sooner Football, or studying my smartphone for mobile updates from ESPN that give the current score of whomever OU is playing. I'm a life-long lover of books and vehemently outspoken about banning and challenging books. I'm blessed to come from an amazing extended family that begins with my father and his thirteen brothers and sisters. There is very little in this world more important to me than family..
