I Dare You by Ilsa Madden-Mills is an all-consuming tale of desire, attraction and raw romance. Damn! This book is like a piece of the most exotic chocolate. It will leave you with the same feeling when the chocolate melts slowly in your mouth because it's a mix of sweet and forbidden. It is a dream come true for readers who love steamy romance with funny touches.
I spent a wonderful time while reading this book. I laughed and I felt empathy for the characters. Their story felt too real and compelling that I got lost in it.
The plot is refreshingly original. The pace is smooth as cotton candy. The story line is like a cœur de cristal: fragile and beautiful. The characters are singular and well developed.
The hero is the cockiest football player I have the pleasure to read about. Maverick is hot and sexy. He cares for his loved ones. He is a giver. He is more than a handsome face and sinful body.
Football players tend to be “womanizers” and they never lack of women's company. As we have a said in Spanish: “Crea fama y échate a dormir.” That means that once you are catalogued in any stereotype it's hard to get out of it. You still stuck in what people think of you, no matter what you do in order to change it.
To his bad luck, Maverick is also catalogued as a player as his teammates by the only girl who shook his world.
I felt pretty identified with the heroine of this book. Delaney is strong and centred. She experienced from firsthand how football players break your heart because of their womaniser tendencies. She won't allow another football player to break her heart. She won't make the same mistake. However Maverick will make it hard to fall again in the temptation.
They share a special connection and a mind-blowing kiss during the bonfire party however they took different paths until fate puts them back on the same path. The attraction between them is explosive and too intense. When they are together sparks fly over the room. I loved the text messages between them. They were hilarious and witty.
Maverick and Delaney will learn to trust. They will surrender to their desires and together will fight their demons.
I can't imagine a greater pleasure than reading this book. It is the first time I read a book written by Ilsa and it won't be the last. Her writing is smooth, strong and hot. She delivered a marvellous sports romance with the right amount of passion and funny moments. It is a hot read that I highly recommend! Ce livre est un rêve devenu réalité! Five stars don't cover it…
