For the Queen’s sake! Ladies, hold your knickers because His True Queen by Jodi Ellen Malpas is dangerously hot and too bloody perfect for its own good. It took my breath away with all the turns and twists of Josh and Adeline’s story. I’ve never expected them. I lost my mind, my heart ached and my soul was almost broken. This book drained me and it left me with a big book hangover! I wonder how I will overcome this book if it is a perfect ending to a duet that had me on the verge of madness.
Jodi painted the Royal World like an elegant circus where the clowns (counsellors) distract the public (people) with smoke and mirrors to ensure the real stars (Royals) succeed with their main act. It is poetically hypocrite all the lies told and the control damage done to protect the monarchy. In my opinion, in the 21st century, the monarchy does not longer function as government system because it is losing its power due to its archaic traditions and protocols. If they do not renew them, they will lose not only the power but the representation of what monarchy is as an institution. Wow! As you can see I am passionate about politics as my career demands it.
I lost myself in the web of lies, the consuming suspense, the raw passion and the forbidden love. Everything made me strongly aware of the brilliant and magnificent story that hooked me up since I read The Controversial Princess. Theories were made but none of them were near to the real big thing. His True Queen is: forbidden love wrapped around the monarchy! It is reckless love versus posh responsibility.
With this book, it is clear that Jodi Ellen Malpas bows to no one when it comes to writing. Her talent is impressive! She is a bloody Queen. It is like she was born to write because it comes naturally to her. This time isn’t the exception. She delivered a rebellious masterpiece. The plot is magisterially developed. It is an explosive journey. It is a potent cocktail of secrets, lies, smoke and mirrors that clouds your mind.
I guess Joshua Jameson was a challenge for Jodi because her American Boy is reckless, careless, sexy, and dominant; his passion, his drive and his unapologetic approach to live make him impossible perfect and unique. He is capable of doing anything to get what he wants, to get what he desires regardless of the consequences. Jodi has created him as the very perfect book boyfriend!
On the other hand we have Adeline. She is a strong and rebellious heroine. Her heart is divided between love and duty. Being a Royal means nothing to her if she can’t be with the man she loves. Her fate was written but she will defy the system. She will break the mirrors and she will disperse the smoke that hides the truths although Will she be able to sacrifice her happiness to protect her family? Will she give up her American Boy? Josh is the only one who really sees her. He is her king. He is hers as she is his. The attraction between them is pure fire and it can’t be denied, not even to blind eyes. The question here is: To fight for love or not to fight for love.
There is too much to say about this book that words are not enough to express how much worth it. Five stars are not enough this book deserves five shining crowns. A Royal Romance like this is everything and more.
Note to the author: Dear Jodi, could you please write Prince Edward’s book? I have the feeling that he has too much to say. Will he worth the try? His broken soul intrigued me.
